Can it get any weirder than this?

Somehow blogging is my outlet to most of my frustration in life, at work or just frustration in general. The person blogging is me and not the persona that I have to wear every time I go to work. I always hear people say be yourself, I don't know but somehow by saying that we are not ourselves, because it is human nature to desire to look good.

I want people to read my blog but at some point I don't want my friends to read about what I am writing. I always think that if some people that I know would read my blog and if I keep thinking about that, it would mean that I have to restrict myself to some issues but then again that would take away the whole sense of this blog.

Why am I writing this? Just because last Friday while I was away from my classroom one of my student went  to class early and since my laptop is on the table and blogger is up he was actually reading my blog. There is nothing to hide there because I don't think I have touch some of the sensitive issue yet. It gave me an uneasy feeling none the less.

I told the student to mind his own business but I was the one telling the world and even asking the world to know about what I think with things. I cry privacy and yet I want people to know what's inside my head. UGH! are we humans really complicated as this?

Somehow I am one of those who can't really be myself at all times, there are certain expectations from me that requires a mask, this is really sad but somehow a reality that most can't accept.

Sigh!

  1. First of all, your student really has no business reading from your laptop - whether you were blogging, reading a book, or anything. You have the write to use blogging as your outlet and to reveal what you really want to say without fear of what other people would say.

  2. Yeah I quite agree with you. Even if you have to be honest with yourself and you know that the truth shall set you free, there are just some things that you can't share.

  3. You have every right to blog whatever you want, whatever you feel, wherever you are. You may have a lot of inhibitions about sharing and baring yourself to the online world. And I know that there may be instances wherein you feel like divulging the most personal of things. But at the end of the day, it will always be up to you whether you share this or not. You can always filter things. --- Oh, and people snooping into your laptop, like that student was a tad bit off. That's invasion of privacy na.

  4. I think blogging can be an outlet of your emotion but we should always watch what we write because it becomes an extension of who we are and its information that's publicly available. I have to agree that reading from your laptop is not appropriate.

  7. We reveal a lot about ourselves when we blog especially if we are not hiding behind a pseudonym so we really lose a certain amount of privacy although having it read straight from your own laptop without permission is another thing.

  8. Your student really don't have business touching your laptop. But yes, he or she do have all the freedom in the world to read what you just posted at your blog (if you publish it publicly) using his own computer or stuff.
